WHAT IS SILESTONE? |
| |
Silestone is a natural quartz surface. The pure quartz in Silestone
gives it its crystalline depth of color and unparalleled durability--an
unmatched combination of natural beauty and strength. Through
extensive engineering, a manufacturing process was developed utilizing
intense heat and pressure to increase the color consistency, stain
resistance and strength of this natural stone product. Being non-porous,
Silestone does not require the use of sealants, and it withstands typical
wear and tear beautifully. Professionally developed colors are
computer-calibrated to maintain consistency allowing designers and customers
to make the perfect selection from samples. Bruno-Built Granite recommends
Silestone as a more durable and distinctively attractive alternative to
plastic solid surfaces. |

PRODUCT
BENEFITS |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Stain Resistant |
|
| |
· Silestone’s
polished surface is nonporous and therefore highly resistant to stains from
coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar and makeup. And unlike
granite, Silestone will keep its lustrous shine even without sealing or
polishing. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Scratch Resistant |
|
| |
·
Only three other natural minerals – diamond, sapphire and
topaz – are harder than quartz, making Silestone naturally
scratch-resistant. Quartz is a seven in strength on Moh’s Hardness Scale; a
diamond is 10. So while a careless slip of the knife will scratch most
other countertops such as laminates and plastics, it won’t leave a mark on
Silestone. However, Silestone is not scratch proof and can therefore
be damaged with excessive force or pressure. |
|
|
|
|
| |
Density/Heat Resistance |
|
| |
·
Silestone’s hard, dense and uniform quartz surface translates
into less wear to the countertop even with everyday use. Silestone can
withstand exposure to normal cooking temperatures from pots and pans without
marring the surface. However, all natural stone surfaces can be damaged by
sudden and rapid temperature changes, and therefore using a trivet is always
recommended. |
|
|
|
|
| |
Strength |
|
| |
·
Silestone has four times the flexural strength of granite.
That built-in flexibility allows Silestone to bend slightly instead of
breaking, making it less prone to the chipping and cracking common with
other stones. The flexural strength makes Silestone easier to transport,
fabricate and install than other stones. |

Maintenance Free |
|
| |
·
Silestone is nonporous, so there is no maintenance and
cleaning is a cinch with warm, soapy water or other common household
cleaners. Granite and other stone countertops are porous and must be sealed
regularly to prevent staining – a task today’s busy homeowners don’t have
the time or patience to do. |

3cm Solid Material |
|
| |
By using 3cm solid material
countertop over the 2cm laminated build-up material, you can be assured a
much stronger and more durable countertop, no lamination lines, and no
sub-top required. |
