He married Lila Huss on June 10, 1960. Lila has a daughter , Marta, from a previous marriage and Virgil raised her as his own. After working for AE, Virgil worked for Cherry-Burrel Corp. where he traveled and serviced dairy equipment nationwide. He then worked for the State of Iowa as consulting engineer for all institutions from 1974-1975. He has a First Class Engineer's license since 1946 and has been a member and director of the National Association of Power Engineers.
He and his wife enjoy remodeling homes and have worked in real estate in Arkansas for many years.[ft050412.FTW]
