"When the Prairie was Young" is an instant of time frozen forever in stone. It depicts a struggle by two giants of the plains for the right to continue his line. It takes place on a lonely piece of the short grass prairie away from the prying eyes of men before the wagons rolled West, before the hunters killed thousands, before the sod was broken by the plow, at a time when the prairie was young.
